When patrolling neighborhoods, community policing has always
been our goal. The recent arrests in Carolina Forest
credited to Lt. Mike Wear shows that this concept pays off
time and time again.
Community policing is not just a "buzz word", it is a
complete operational concept, tying security closely into
neighborhood residents and activities, allowing insight that
cannot be otherwise gained. Lt. Wear has been exceptional in
cultivating this concept in Carolina Forest and the Avalon
Community in particular. Lt. Wear is an asset to Excalibur,
Avalon and the entire Carolina Forest community. Although
this case was publicized in the newspaper, Wear has been
responsible for numerous arrests for serious crimes in
Carolina Forest over the past four years. To my knowledge,
those arrests came with a 100% conviction rate and many of
the suspects are currently in prison.
Community policing takes cooperative efforts on the part of
the neighborhood residents as well to realize a "total
effect" and we could not ask for a better proponent than HOA
President, Ed Stapleton.
Mr. Stapleton is a "no nonsense" Board President who takes
the security of his neighborhood VERY seriously and
interacts with security on a daily basis to make sure
communications flow efficiently. His long law enforcement
career with Horry County makes things run very smoothly as
there is a zero learning curve, which makes his community
very unique. Without Mr. Stapleton at the helm of the
neighborhood and his unwavering support, the community
policing would not be nearly as effortless. We won't even
get into his superior interviewing skills.....
Congratulations to Lt. Mike Wear for ANOTHER job -
well done! |
